Overall design

The overall design is in dark red, white, black and yellow. This poster looks like James Bond movie of 60s so the most likely audience age this film is made for is from 25 to 55. You should feel that this movie will be funny, because of a man with a binocular on the right side and to make it look ironic a hand with a gun sticking out.

This poster conveys/ gives a hint about genre by having two shaded figures on the bottom. We see that one of those figures looks somewhere with binocular so we think about spies, and other figure holds the gun in his/her hands (we do not know yet) so we think in the beginning that this is a spy drama probably with some action elements. The genre audience would think of is Action.

This poster is simple promotional of the actual film, as there are no photos of actors or shots from the actual movie. In this case this is more sort of artistic work/comment on the film as those two figures explain to us what this film might be about. This whole poster is made on Photoshop, and the shapes of people on the bottom could actually be the main characters, but edited on the Photoshop.

The most notisable element on this poster is the name of the film, which is yellow writing in the middle. The second what you can see on the poster are names of main actors in the film. Next goes the hint of the genre of the film which is in this case two figures on the bottom of the poster. The reason why film name and main actors’ names are most noticeable is because name of the film is quite provoking to find out about it. Actors are listed in the same way; we can see them quite well due to the size of the font. We have this film advertised by actors in it and the name of the film.

This poster concentrates on one USP I would say, it tells us what actors will play main roles; it means that author wants people to buy this film because of actors in it. The reason I think that here is only this USP is that names of the artists are written in the biggest font on the poster and they  are listed from the top to the bottom/from what we see first to what we see last.

Text

The text we see on this poster is names of the actors, name of the film, name of author/director of the film and some credits on the bottom of the poster.  The other extra information/credits are in the bottom of the poster.

The font/style of the writing reminds me of a film ‘Pink Panther’ which is some kind of a spy criminal comedy. This poster writing and theme looks exactly the same due to people on the bottom and the actual font style.  The color of the background is quite dark and the color of fonts is contrast to it. So the contrast color brings our attention in, and TA understands it as a main part of the poster and film.

The way this poster conveyed the narrative of the film is by stereotype, as some people would associate this film to ‘Pink Panther’ film; this will give approximate ideas on what is it going to be about. The other aspect which conveys the genre/meaning of the film is small figures on the bottom of the screen, we look and those characters, see a gun, a binocular and think of spies which remind us again of ‘Pink  Panther’ and we know if we go into this group of people who likes this genre.

The order of importance on this poster goes from top to bottom only. As we look from the top we see actors’ names, film name and director/creator then people and then some extra information.

Graphic and photography

The graphic is on this poster is quite simple; there are two silhouettes and just a dark red background. The fonts going to the silhouettes as well as I look more like a picture rather than actual text.

The effects which I can see are that people on the back are in the middle of some action; one is watching and the other one is about to shot someone. Those actions are there to show what this film is going to be about.

The colors used in this poster are in contrast to each other. The reason to male them in contrast to each other is to layout most important and less important parts in the poster.

The photo or scene on this poster is probably was inspired by the film. This scene represents the scene in the film or the whole point of film.

The miss-en-scene on this poster is probably the most important thing of the whole picture. As those two items that people have represent two main idea of the film i.e. shooting and spying. Those items are as I mentioned before; binocular and a gun.

Marketing

This poster does inspire me to go and watch this film as it has quite designing picture with silhouettes at the bottom. Also overall style of the poster looks comic, and as I like watching comedies I would go and watch this movie.

This poster does catch my attention, and the way it does it as I mentioned before was through the colors of the poster. Also the size of fonts will be quite important in attracting people.

This poster does give me enough information of what is this film about by the stereotypes as that is comedy more likely to have colorful poster and that only spy movies will include the binoculars and guns. This poster gives information about actors playing in it as well which is could be quite important as there is some groups of people who would like to look at the actors in the first place.

Overall design

The overall design of this film poster is some kind of cartoonish. The whole background is made by using digital facilities; such as Photoshop. Young people are almost not changed except they are in black and white; their clothes are also had been worked on. When I looked at this picture I felt like this film is comedy or melodrama and the audience which would likely to be here is 15 to 20 years old and probably women, the age could be even older as this poster has people aged 20 to 35 placed on it.

The way it appeals to TA as I mentioned is: by having unreal structure of the background i.e. it looks like cartoon. Also this film will be most likely about love, so we have a men and woman who are probably in love, and probably main characters.

The way this poster conveys the genre of this film is that people are smiling on the photo, which means that film is not going to be about horror or action. For action this poster would look bright and energetic and for horror it would look dark and probably with some blood placed on it. This poster also gives idea about narrative in the same way.

This poster combines in itself simple promotional of the actors and artistic comment on the film. On the front we see two people/actors which are in love (depends on the narrative) and have very artistic background quite difficult to make I guess.

The most noticeable element on this poster is writing ‘away we go’ which in this case probably is the name of the film. The other noticeable thing it two people behind the writing because they are quite bright. It made that way on purpose to show what this film is and to bright the actors so potential audience might judge and stereotype film to them selves though it. Also advertise actors, as someone could buy this film because of favourite actors.

The poster concentrates more on name of the film, because we see the name of the film first. The similar idea might been represented in the past and the film concentrates on remaking this idea and to make people interested in it they have placed big lettering in the front rather than above the picture of people or under.

Text

I was mentioned before; the most sealable part on this poster is front main writing which is the name as well. The next thing we can see are names of artists who is on the front above the name of the film, we also can see the sign with name of writer and it could be a special promotion to him/her, which is represented to us as important as names of actors. The other thing we see is: name of the director of the film which seems to be not as important as actors and writers. Finally the last thing we see is credits of the film which is placed in no-bright colour on the bottom part of the screen, between legs of actors. It is done that way for two reasons as I think; first is that it would disturb the whole background which is meant to be see able and the second reason is that it is not really important as film or actors’ names.

The font and colour of the front writing is gives meaning to the audience of comedy as it is written in quite funny and happy way. The same thing could be related to genre that fonts are representing it through funny and happy way.

All writings are laid out straight, i.e. they are not in any sort of angle. The order is: first is name of the film second are names of writer and actors. Fourth are film director’s name/information and the last are scripts.

Graphic/photography

Graphic in this poster is everything, i.e. there is no parts of poster which would be writing or photo as everything was done by using Photoshop.

All the effects were done in the Photoshop, they look like cartoon as I mentioned before in the text. The result of those effects is that people would think that this film is a comedy or melodrama. So in this case this poster works perfectly.

The colours used are: dark red/brown, orange, light green, violet and a bit of dark green. Those colours are made a bit dull. This might mean that this is more sort of love drama rather than comedy. The whole picture; people and colours would mean that something ironic or a bit sad would happen in the film.

There is no graphic furniture on the poster, but all writings could be related to graphic furniture as they are designed in cartoonish way.

The only one inspiration aspect I can see on this poster is that people are walking away from the picture. Author of this poster would be inspired of the film theme, so he decided to make those people going away from everything and in this case they are going from prospect with houses and some kind of town.

The poses of actors are walking towards the viewer and the facial motivation is happy, we can see this one their faces. The possible effect could be that film has got a happy ending, works like a hint to the audience to go and watch this film.

Marketing

This poster does inspire me to go and watch this film because of various reasons. First is that I relate to the particular group of audience that likes films with happy endings. Also I am related to the group of people who would enjoy abstract film, which will not be just comedy or melodrama. This poster looks unusual, so this will encourage me to watch the film.

This poster is successful in catching eyes by having a big peace of writing and having a cartoon picture on the front,-as most of the films have just an edited photo.

I think this poster has enough information to encourage people to watch this film as it has the name of the director; some people would buy it if they recognise the creator. It does not really has information about the narrative of the film as the slogan or name of the film gives quite a lot information ‘Away We Go’ about people who are going away from some kind of problems, as people might think about. The other information which will be quite useful for targeting audience is names of the actors, as someone might buy/watch this film because of favourite actors in it.

This poster does give me information about the genre of the film as this poster uses quite soft and bright colours, it also gives me information about narrative and idea of the film by the name written in front as I mentioned before.
