Questionnaire Review
First question was about gender, by fact there are more female than male in the world, but in this case I have asked this question within my media studies group and there are more female students. I would have to apply some secondary research on this question. This states that there is larger proportion of female but not as much as on questionnaire.

The same happened to my second question about age of the people I asked. As this questionnaire was within my media studies group almost all people who answered are in the same age as me. The only exception here is my teacher who is between thirty and forty five. In this case it is impossible to use secondary data, so I would have to use the one which is there.
According to my questionnaire, most people would prefer to watch comedy, drama and crime & Gangster, and so I can say that idea of my film lying within the most selected genres in the questionnaire, As my film is a Comedy mixed with Drama and Abstract film genre.

I also asked people whether they read film magazines. The answer was positive almost eighty percent of asked people said that they do read film magazines. Therefore I would have to make sure that there is enough information/promotion for my film, or at least magazine contains my film poster and a good film review page.

All people I have asked do watch television, therefore my short film will be related to the television in terms of promotion. Some reviews below will explain it in detail.

The most demanded shop to buy magazines in is HMV (UK-based), therefore posters in HMVs stores should be placed. As when potential audience will see poster they may be getting interested in it, and read the review page for after, as a consequence will end up with buying my short film.

Most people said that they would rather prefer to have physical film library, people would not like to buy films in computer format without CD. Therefore it would be reasonable to place on each DVD/CD product promotion about the film, as people will prefer to buy/rent DVDs rather than downloading a digital copy.

Next question was quite similar to the one above. I asked if my potential audience would like to buy film from any legal online websites. The answer was no, no one would like to buy film from the internet sources, therefore I will not be putting film poster on websites which sell films and also will not place my film in there.

Most of the people I asked prefer to watch films on DVD’s and television. The third closest option was Blue Ray which is more sort of DVDs, I find it vital to mention because even though it takes only third place in my question answers. I should take in consideration that Blue Ray is a new technology, which is not developed enough. As an example when DVDs came out more people would have still buy VHS tapes, but in time VHS went out of production. This tells me that I will have to place my film poster or any other kind of media promotion on DVDs as it is the current source where films are recorded. Another option I will have to take into the consideration is that people also watch television, so my film promotion should be in appropriate time i.e. when my target audience watching television, on the television between the films or rating TV shows (ideally).

According to my questionnaire people mostly go to cinema once a week or a month, which is certainly be weekends as I find out in my further questions. This tells me that my target audience is nor really keen to go to the cinema often therefore my film advertisement fill appear only;y on weekends in the cinemas. Also my film poster will have to be placed outside the cinema so that I am not charged for taking the space.

There are about fifty-eight percent of people watch films online, tho other half of people would not like to watch films online. From this question I can carry out that its still reasonable to place my short film in some websites which can allow me to place my film in. Those websites could be www.youtube.com as a free source of video watching, www.play4film.com which is money charging and another one which is free site but contains old films; www.joost.com. Those streaming websites are a good idea to place my short film in as a promotion of the film itself.

There are about seventy percent of people do watch trailers of films online. This tells me that online promotion of the product is quite popular especially within the teenage groups. The places which would be most appropriate to place online trailer/promotion f the film is website called: www.youtube.com or such as.

About fifty-eight percent of people watch films once a week, about thirty percent of people watch films twice a day and only twelve percent watch films everyday. This question is about if people watch films in television, therefore I can decide whether to place some advertisement of my film in the television at all.

This question is very much related to the one before, on this diagram you can see that people mostly watch films in television in the evenings. Therefore it tells me that advertisement of my film will need to be placed in the evenings so that as much as possible people would see advertisement.

About eighty-four percent of people I asked pay attention to the film posters. Posters are very useful tool of promoting the product which likely to create the word of mouth. As there a lot people who would pay attention to the film poster, I should make sure that it looks attractive to the audience.

People are most likely to py attention to the film posters in underground and streets, on the second place buses/bus stops, third place is shops. The possible reason why shops are in the third place is that while people at shops they more likely to be concentrating on buying products rather than looking for posters. From this research I should carry out that the best place to put my film poster would be in underground and bus/bus stops and randomly on the streets. I also should not really leave shops as there are another four-teen percent of people who do look at film posters.

The best time to place advertisement of my film is weekends, as the diagram shows at this time people the most visit cinemas. This tells me that I should be placing promotion of my film in cinemas (within all advertisements before film starts) on weekends, and put less advertisement in the workdays.

This diagram shows that most effective source of finding about films is friends, which is in other words would be word of mouth. In the media world this source of promoting is the most important, especially when most people find out about the films from their friends. I can not really control the word of mouth but I can create a positive word of mouth by creating a decent piece of promotion, television would be an example. The reason why I mentioned television is that it is second on the list of most reliable source of finding about the films between people.

More people do not like to read reviews of films in the magazines, but there still about forty-two percent who would like to read magazine reviews. I should be aware of the fact that there are a decent amount of people who actually do read the reviews; therefore my film review should be attractive enough. Even though that in real media it is not going to be me writing the magazine reviews. I should be considering the fact that people who have read the film review might not like it and as a consequence their ‘word of mouth’ to their friends will be unsatisfactory for me.

On question about would peolpe be affected by the bad review read in a magazine most people said yes, but there is not a big difference between people who said NO and YES, even though review on my film int he magazine will not be pleasant for me there will be still forty percent who would watch the film.even if there is not a big difference in answers I should still take this into consideration as a good review may lead to the positive word of mough, which is so vital for any piece of work.

The proportion of people who do watch short films is more than people who would not to watch them. There are about seventy-five percent of people do watch short film, which makes my future work in demand already. About twenty-five of asked people do not watch short films, which is not really a problem compare to amount of people who do watch them.
Almost eighty-five percent of people do watch advertisement tracks in the beginning of the DVD. Therefore in future if my film will be sold i should consider the fact that advertisement should be placed on the DVDs for home screen sale. As on my own experience I know that those advertisements are actually working.
The proportion of people who would like to buy DVD/film with a free promotion on it is slightly bigger that people who would not like the ‘free’ stuff on the DVD. This means that if my film would be actually sold in the shops, some free stuff would be included on it. The types of freebies could be very different, from free gig ticket to the national lottery.

Apart from those people who researches about films from their friends there are quite a lot of people who searches films from the internet, there are at least around 70%. Therefore I will take into te consideration placing my short film in the search engines of websites like: www.google.co.uk or www.yahoo.com.

There are people who are interested in social networking websites such as www.facebook.com or www.myspace.com, therefore it might be useful paste my short film advertisement in those to create a promotion via the word of mouth, which certainly exists in internet. As my video will be in the social websites, and the fact that those websites have a possibility to create online fan groups of something, I can tak into the consideration to create one of those fun groups dedicated to my short film. Which also work as a promotion for my film.

All people who use social networking websites are watching videos on them. Due to this fact I will be able to upload my short film there for free so people can watch them and leave comments which will eventually create a word of mouth, which is in my case may be good and will promote my film.

Summary
After I have completed all deconstruction of real media work I created a questionnaire for my future film, magazine review page and poster. This information is vital as on this primary research as the whole film will be based on it, as well as my film poster and review page.
